Project Description

Mountain Risks: from prediction to management and governance

2007-2011

Mountain Risks is a Marie Curie Research Training Network in the 6th Framework Program of the European Commission. Its focus is research and training in all aspects of mountains hazards and risks assessment and management. This European network intends to develop an advanced understanding of how mountain hydro-geomorphological processes behave and to apply this understanding to living with the hazards in the long-term.

The 4-year project started on January 1, 2007.

The Mountain Risk Project involves 14 partners institutes throughout Europe each hosting a Post-Doc (ER) and Ph.D (ESR) position.

Mountain Risk is coordinated by the Department of Physical Geography and the Environment, University of Caen-Basse-Normandie, Caen, France and the CNRS.

A description of the project can be found here.

Quanterra is a member of the consortium of Mountain Risks project as private institution. Quanterra works in close collaboration with EPFL and University of Lausanne for organization of workshops and field works that are the main activities of Quanterra within this project.
